Both challenging and relaxing

I have been attending the Friday evening in-person yoga sessions with Mairi in Bridge of Allan Parish Church Hall over the last 6 weeks and have loved them!

The hall itself is beautiful – spacious, airy and warm. The classes are both challenging and relaxing, with a focus on understanding how your body moves and realigns itself through the practise of yoga.

As a runner I find them the perfect ‘antidote’ for tired and sometimes aching muscles, and I always feel stretched, calm and relaxed when I leave. For me it’s wonderful being able to do in-person classes again – practising yoga with other like-minded people is not just sociable – I feel the benefits physically, mentally and emotionally.

Mairi’s Yoga and Meditative Dance classes are a bit of a revelation! I attended the first one when I had been feeling very anxious and stressed and, though I felt rather self-conscious at first, once I started to let go and relaxed it was a really fun and liberating experience.

I attended a second session a week or two ago and my inhibitions left me almost immediately. There’s so much space in the Hall to move around and the music Mairi plays allows you to dance as if moving through mud, water and the sky!

A life-enhancing, therapeutic and energising experience which I’d highly recommend.
